This farm takes its name from the historic presence of ancient farmhouses where it is now possible to stay. It was born in 2009, combining and renovating farmhouses, warehouses and lands dating back to the early 1900s. In reality, the origins are much older infact, the remains of an ancien Roman settlement have been found. Today, Casali del Toppello has preserved several carved blocks of Romanic period carnelian stone, used to build walls and containments.
We are in a farmhouse surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and woods. There are very welcoming apartments where it is wonderful to relax with the silence that surrounds them.
The olive trees and the vines are the undisputed protagonists, as per tradition of this beautiful Umbrian territory. We are in the green heart of Italy, a place where nature still dominates undisputed, together with splendid art cities such as Perugia, Assisi and Gubbio, not far away.
The 8 hectares of vineyards, all are belonging to the DOC Colli del Trasimeno and including the Sangiovese (large clone), Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties, used for the production of red wines. Trasimeno Gamay for the rosé and Chardonnay, Grechetto and Trebbiano from Tuscany for the white wines. Indigenous and non-native grape varieties coexist on this lands that benefit the positive influence of Trasimeno lake.
The presence of various types of olive trees allow the production of monovarietal Extra Virgin olive oils such as Leccino, Frantoio, Moraiolo and Dolce Agogia. The different varieties then are blended in an Extra Virgin olive oil able to perfectly merge all different aromas.
Casali del Toppello is an organic farm.
