Tenuta Caccia al Piano was born in 1868. It belonged to the Gherardesca family and at that time was known because it used to be the hunting area for noble people.
It is located in Bolgheri, a land where, thanks to the soil and the climate, great wines are produced.
The vineyards cover 23 hectares and are divided into the three cru Caccia al Piano, Le Grottine and San Biagio. In these areas with different slopes of the terrain and sun exposure, different grapes are planted so to express themselves at their best.
The vineyards overlook the splendid road which leads to Castagneto Carducci, land of the famous Italian poet Giosuè Carducci who inspired the name for the two wines Levia Gravia and Ruit Hora.
Grape varieties, cultivated with double spurred cordon are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. These are the juicy bunches used by the winemaker Arturo Ziliani to create his wines.
The exclusively manual harvest gives a further charm and beauty to the process which finally leads to sipping a good glass of red Bolgheri wine.
